Oxford Dictionaries Quick Search App Reviews

Very nice indeed

I didnt have the opportunity to use this app often enough to state a definitive opinion on it, but it is quite much what Ive expected and to my sense it is enough complete. Anyway, the interface is user-friendly and the definition pages are very well detailed (etymology, pronunciation, different meanings and examples of use). I would compare it to wordreference but it is Oxford Dictionaries. ;) Great job !

App Doesnt Connect

After a while, the app doesnt work anymore, claiming I dont have internet connection; although Im connected to wifi and turned phone data on and 3G to make sure, it keeps saying I dont have internet connection! I tried to download it again, but the problem continues.

Does not work on WiFi

Glad I checked out the free version first. Launched the app and a window pops up with ‘Are you connected to the internet? This app cannot be used without a data connection.

iOS8.1.2

no longer searches - worked last week - this week, no more. Error message alert box: "Are you connected to the internet ? This app cannot be used without a data connection." - have data connection; couldnt log this review without....

Unfortunate change

Why was the pronunciation guide removed? That feature was very helpful.

Need an update

There is not showing pronunciation part in the application. Update please.

Ads

There are a lot of ads, I hope to see future in-app purchases to remove them. Fantastic app other than that.

Thank you.

Very pleased to have this available at no cost to me.

Nice to have, but clunky

Im glad that this app exists — I find it very strange that Apple has the Oxford dictionary but not an app for it — but it is a bit clunky: it doesnt feel like an iOS app. It feels like a web page wrapped up as an app. The user interface is not in keeping with the style of the OS, feels sluggish, and is generally not terribly pleasant to use. I would like to see Oxford make something that feels as if it were made specifically for iOS instead of riveted together as a stopgap.

Wonderful

This app is very useful and helpful. I love it!

Thank you!

This is the first time I felt compelled to write a review--I have always loved the Oxford dictionaries, so thank you for making it available to everyone and so easily accessible!

Doesnt connect

Will not connect to the internet. Maybe the Oxford English brains need to hire soon better IT people.

What happened

The app worked well and now it doesnt work. It says that it needs wireless to connect to the internet, it doesnt recognize that there is connected to the internet.

Currently useless.

If I didnt have internet, I wouldnt have been able to download the app in the first place. The app is now telling me that neither my iPhone nor my iPad have internet. They do. Its a fantastic app when it works, which just makes it all the more disappointing now that it doesnt.

App not working

App doesnt recognize any Internet connection even when there is.

No Internet Connection?

My phone is always connected to the Internet connection, how can this happens? Ive tried to delete and reinstall the app, its the same problem. So, I activate the Wi-Fi connection, yes, the same no connection problem. It was a really good dict. app I have ever had, please fix it.

Not connected?

Says Im not connected to the Internet when I very clearly am. Therefore I cant use the app at all. Too bad zero stars is not possible.

Doesnt work

Doesnt even detect Im connected to the Internet and continues to tell me to connect to Internet. Uninstalled!

It doesnt work.

This app doesnt work. Regardless of whether you are connected to the internet, it tells you that you are not and to try again when you are.

Be aware!

Dont be enticed to purchase any of the Oxford apps. I bought the expensive (about $50) OED. Imagine my surprise when they quietly started to not support iOS. My first clue was when the app failed to operate.
